Image by Martin Sojka via FlickrToday will be a great day! On this fresh morning, it is comforting to know that that God had mercy on me and let me rise another day with the use of all my body. So as not to squander the time He has blessed me with I find myself this day with an important question to tackle….
How to Heal From the Hurt of Yesterday
"Just let it go!" some say. But every yesterday does build a tomorrow and like building blocks our past does shapes to who we are today. What happens when I end up being a person unable to ‘just let it go’? Am I doomed to repeat it in some minor form, will I be bogged down with low self-esteem, will I always have self defeating habits and actions, and more severely will believe that I deserve to be hurt? Most certainly I will.
Getting over yesterday is not something that can be left to chance! If left to chance, or the old saying, "Time heals all wounds", we are doomed to wait until we can forget what happened. But, does forgetting mean healing from the hurt? I KNOW it does not. There is always something to bring it back to your remembrance. When the memory comes back, like waves crashing against rocks, the emotions come back too.
Not all injuries require attention; some will heal in time, with time. However, with the injury of hurt, you can not leave it to heal on its own. When left to heal in this way, you will be bitter, angry, and become isolated. Engulfed in fear you will keep people at arms length fearing that you may be venerable to attack, and so you let no one in, and then no one out, (jealously). The slow/no approach does not work. Take and active role.
ADMIT IN PRAYER…
It doesn’t have to be declared to the world, but it must be declared to God. Communicate with God (pray), tell Him ALL about it In order to heal, and be whole again, you must admit. Admit the pain, embarrassment, violation, and guilt. Yes guilt, you know when we say… “How could I have let this happen? I should have been smarter. Declare that hurt is there, how much it hurts, and how it hurts. It does no good hiding your symptoms. God will help you through it. Then, BELIEVE that He hears you, and your healing is on the way. This is casting your care (1 Peter 5:7 KJV) “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” God does care about you. I know He does because you’re still breathing!
FIND TESTIMONY…
Next, draw strength from testimony, (Revelation 12:11 KJV) and seek other living persons who have overcome. If you want to learn how to win study a winner. Know that you are not the only one going through this type of hurt. There are people who have overcome and healed from this situation. AND YOU CAN TOO!!!
SPEAK POSTIVE
There is so much power in what we say. Your words and faith impact your life speak your healing. I have learned NEVER to underestimate my ability to change me. The Clark sister’s song says “God gave me the power to make my day!” Tell yourself you are better, today than yesterday. All is well, that every anxiety and fear is healed. You are a person that acts in and with Gods love towards other. Surround yourself with people who will encourage your healing.
FORGIVE
All this is great but if you do not forgive, you will be stuck. To forgive sometimes is easier said than done but at the end it can be accomplished. Your prayer with and to God will help this process along. Some thing amazing happens when we decide to forgive, we find freedom. We move from victim to a conquer. We see our power we have to change, our self. Not forgiving is not an option in getting over hurt. As you pray and read God’s word you will understand that peace is not really peace until you forgive those that have hurt you.
Salvation
The one person that cares the most about you is God. He is waiting for you. What you are seeking you will find in Him, love, peace, comfort, protection, truth, and acceptance. God is so amazing that He saw your need along time ago and made preparation to meet it. If you truly want the change that God has for you then you must change, take and active role in your life. The word of God says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 KJV. No bells and whistles, no hocus pocus, it is done. Come to God as you are, be willing to go through the journey of life with Him. I have found that it truly is better with Him than without. Now that you are saved you need someone to help cover you and teach you with patience and understanding, this is where a Pastor comes in and a good church family. They will love and encourage you to move forward in Christ. If you need help finding one respond to this post and I will help you to find just that.
So now what does the morning bring? It brings HOPE! It brings endless possibilities of new and exciting things to come. When we let go of the hurt, get over it, we can see the new day, as a fresh day with the anticipation of a child waiting for sometime wonderful and amazing to happen, to us. And we look and see that we are healed.
God is my protector, defender, father, husband, Lord, and our lives are, and are better because of Him.
An Active Over Comer,
Nicole.
